'Bush Caused Katrina'

Sheehan: Casey Says Bush Caused Katrina

Today, in an exclusive interview with Air America, Cindy Sheehan told reporters that George Bush was directly linked to the catastrophic flooding of New Orleans and widespread devastation throughout the southeastern United States.

The Peace Mom said that hurricane Katrina had been created by Halliburton, at the behest of Cheney and the Bush oil family, to drive up the price of oil and gasoline, in an attempt to prevent her protest bus from reaching Washington, DC .

She said that this startling information had been revealed to her by her late son, Casey, speaking to her through her Ionic Breeze air purifier.

'Progressives'

Not mainstreamers, but the 'Progressive' wing of the party.

Hitchens: Sob-sister Tripe

"It is exactly this point that makes nonsense of the sob-sister tripe
pumped out by the Cindy Sheehan circus and its surrogates. But in reply, why
bother to call a struggle "global" if you then try to localize it? Just say
plainly that we shall fight them everywhere they show themselves, and fight them
on principle as well as in practice, and get ready to warn people that Nigeria
is very probably the next target of the jihadists. The peaceniks love to ask:
When and where will it all end? The answer is easy: It will end with the
surrender or defeat of one of the contending parties. Should I add that I am
certain which party that ought to be? Defeat is just about imaginable, though
the mathematics and the algebra tell heavily against the holy warriors.
Surrender to such a foe, after only four years of combat, is not even worthy of
consideration." Christopher Hitchens, "A war to be proud of" in The Weekly Standard.

If the template of Marxism weren’t already on the shelf, then a Progressive Democrat would have invented it.

A mother ‘honors’ her own dead son by using his death to promote precisely what he gave his life fighting against. She claims to ‘honor’ him by using his death to fight against what he gave his life fighting for.

She ‘supports our troops but doesn’t support the war’. She supports the troops but she devotes her life to aiding their (our) enemies and bringing down our country in wartime. She says “this country isn’t worth dying for.”

In the rhetoric of the radical left, ‘subversion is the highest form of patriotism’. And they love their country (or their vision of what they would have it become) so much they want to transform us into France.

The progressive elites tell us that our culture, values, morality and that stuff are all just relative. There are no “rights” and no ‘wrongs’, except two: (1) They are right, and (2) We are wrong.

Is there no end to the doublespeak and semantic trickery?
…………………………………..

Cindy Sheehan has become the poster girl for the radical left.

In the last half century, the progressive liberalism of the liberal wing of the Democrat Party has evolved into an anti-liberal throwback to Marxism. It has become what the liberals of John Kennedy’s day sought to protect us against. Today, though they’re a minority within their own party, Progressive Democrats are at the helm of the Democrat Party.

Progressive liberalism is neither progressive nor liberal. It is an expression of emotion and personality more than a statement of political philosophy. Progressive Democrats stand for nothing substantive, but stand against everything, as expedient to get what they want.

Like Marxism, progressive liberalism is used to energize underlying alienation, risk-aversion, envy, resentment, despair, bitterness and hate. It uses emotional negativity, instead of idealism and rational policy, to foment and mobilize discontent throughout society to gain power in government. It groups people by fortuitous traits such as age, sex, race, ethnicity, and sexual preference, and pits these groups against each other in a class struggle for entitlements in a statist society.

If the template of Marxism weren’t already on the shelf, then a Progressive Democrat would have invented it. Misfits and malcontents need a cozy place to hang out, and there’s always an aspiring elite nearby, eager to use these unfortunate people to gain control of government.

..........................................

That said, God bless the seemingly few elected Democrats who remain true to their classical liberal foundations. May you some day take back your party, reassert your lofty idealism on behalf of our country, and resume your leadership in bringing out what’s best in America.

Not you, John Kerry, nor other throwback progressives like you, Hillary or Teddy or Chuck, Harry, Dick, Chris, Howard, and ilk.

But decent liberals, like Joe Lieberman and Christopher Hitchens, need to start holding other people in their party accountable for what they say and do.

Meanwhile, as a former John Kennedy Democrat, I’ll fight the ‘progressive’ wing to the death. It’s indeed the enemy within, and it endangers our way of life at least as much as any threat from abroad.

Al Sharpton Joins Camp Cindy

From NewsMax.com:

Al Sharpton Teaming up with Cindy Sheehan

Firebrand civil rights agitator Rev. Al Sharpton announced plans yesterday to team up with "Peace Mom" Cindy Sheehan to call for an "immediate end" to the war in Iraq.

In a press release issued by Sharpton's office, the radical reverend said he'll be traveling to Crawford, Texas on Sunday, where he'll use the occasion to "mark the 42nd anniversary of the historic march on Washington and Dr. Martin Luther King's 'I have a dream' speech."

Sharpton and Sheehan may have a lot more in common than meets the eye.

The Peace mom has blamed Israel for causing both global terrorism and the death of her son.
"He was killed for lies and for a Neo-Con agenda to benefit Israel," she recently railed. "My son joined the Army to protect America, not Israel."

"You get America out of Iraq, you get Israel out of Palestine," Sheehan has also urged.

Like the Peace Mom, Sharpton has repeatedly been accused of being anti-Israel.

During a 2001 trip to Jerusalem, a heckler told him to "go to hell."
"I already am in hell," Sharpton responded.

He's also been criticized for a 1995 incident where he called a Jewish shop owner in Harlem a "white interloper." Within days the shop was burned down, killing eight people. Posted by Picasa

Dem Dreamteam: Secretary of Defense

It doesn't take them long. Now even Cindy Sheehan's been outdone by her supporters.

As if exploiting one's own son's death isn't low enough, now Sheehanoids are taunting wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Hospital:

"The Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., the current home of hundreds of wounded veterans from the war in Iraq, has been the target of weekly anti-war demonstrations since March. The protesters hold signs that read "Maimed for Lies" and "Enlist here and die for Halliburton."Anti-War Protests Target Wounded at Army Hospital

Air America: Buckwheat Invests

Except from:
Inside Air America

An Investigative Blog Report
BY BRIAN MALONEY AND MICHELLE MALKIN
Part Two: Beyond Evan- More Shell Games?

For nearly three weeks, Air America Radio has worked feverishly to convince the public a former executive is entirely responsible for the messy scandal that now threatens the liberal talk network's future.
That's where $875,000 in taxpayer money, meant for community programs run by the Bronx-based Gloria Wise Boys and Girls Club, instead apparently ended up funding Air America's cash-thirsty operations.
Michelle Malkin.com and The Radio Equalizer-Brian Maloney have uncovered a pattern of dubious behavior, however, that extends across Air America Radio's various public hiccups, blunders and scandals.
Is former head Evan Montvel-Cohen really the whole picture of Air America's questionable business practices?

Because Cohen's certainly no angel, he's a perfect scapegoat for past transgressions, while Air America today continues the same dodgy behavior. While actions opponents call "shell games" appear to continue, Cohen himself is nowhere to be found.
From Anshell to Progress Media and Piquant LLC, the Drobnys seem to be no strangers to shifting assets and allegedly walking away from large debts, when needed (See Part One of this series, featured on Michelle Malkin's site, for more on creditor Multicultural Radio Broadcasting's accusations of "sham transactions" and "fraudulent conveyances").
Even as we speak, what appears to be a new shell may be in the works. How do we know?
It comes right back to the same Highland Park library speech, where the Drobnys revealed previously secret plans to form yet another new company.
Sheldon's wife Anita took to the podium to spill the beans about Nova M Radio.
Disclosing Air America's future plans to a room full of rabid supporters might seem smart, especially if it brings potential investors to what inside sources say is an effort to raise $5 million to fund the new company.
Was such a public disclosure legal, however? Since Nova M Radio's offering is set up as a private placement, there have been no indicated or available US Securities and Exchange Commission filings.
Could the speech be considered an indirect attempt to solicit investors, in a way that would trigger required SEC disclosures?
Like the confusing web of firms they've previously created, Nova M Radio will be intertwined with Air America Radio itself, while being charged with the purchase of stations in rural markets to provide remote venues for its programming. Posted by Picasa

Enabling Danger

Hat Tip: Alexandra Kerry for the gown.

From: Bill O'Reilly's Talking Points Memo & Top Story, August 17, 2005:

"Newly released classified documents paint a stark picture of how Al Qaeda was able to start the war on terror. Two memos written in 1996 warned the Clinton administration that Bin Laden 'can retain the capability to support individuals and groups who have the motive and wherewithal to attack US interests worldwide.' Secretary of State Warren Christopher, and you would assume President Clinton, knew that Osama Bin Laden was on the attack, yet the USA allowed him to operate in Afghanistan without sanction. Mr. Christopher has comment, but I believe Congress should compel the man to speak by issuing him a subpoena. On another front, it is now clear that Army intelligence had identified Mohammed Atta as a dangerous terrorist more than a year before the 9/11 attack, but did not pass the information along. Why? Because of a policy instituted by Attorney General Janet Reno and her deputy Jamie Gorelick. Long time Factor viewers will remember that I called Janet Reno the worst Attorney General in history. As for Ms. Gorelick, who also served on the 9/11 Commission, she obviously made an enormous mistake. The Clinton administration allowed Al Qaeda to grow in ferocity and did not confront an evil they knew existed. We can not allow that to happen again in this country."
Former CIA officer Michael Scheuer joined The Factor with more on the early warnings about Bin Laden. Scheuer affirmed that the CIA knew Bin Laden was a threat, and informed the Clinton administration. "There was a consensus within the intelligence community that Osama Bin Laden was a much more dangerous man in Afghanistan than he had been in Sudan. It never occurred to us that the government would not take action against Bin Laden once we located him for them." Scheuer also claimed that the newly released information vindicates the intelligence community. "It's obvious there was no lack of intelligence for President Clinton to act against Osama Bin Laden. We delivered the goods many times on Osama Bin Laden." The Factor called on former Clinton administration officials to step up and speak the truth. "Richard Clarke has a lot of explaining to do. We need to hear from him, and Warren Christopher should be forced to testify and tell the American people what the heck happened."

Drug-Sniffing Pooch Gets Snootfull of Hooch

Dogs Graduate from Bomb-sniffing School
Reuters in Yahoo! News , Fri Aug 12, 9:37 AM ET

FRONT ROYAL, Virginia (Reuters) - U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff on Thursday paid tribute to one of America's most useful weapons in the war on terrorism -- the nose of a well-trained dog.

Chertoff presided over a graduation ceremony for 10 dogs and their trainers, handing out badges on dog collars at the Customs and Border Protection Canine Enforcement Training Center. After having completed a 13-week program, the dogs will be used to sniff out bombs, drugs and people trying to sneak into the country....

Moore's Circus: The Sheehan Act

Vacaville Mom Responds to In-laws Criticism of Protest
VACAVILLE REPORTER

... snip... Patrick Sheehan has declined to comment publicly about his wifes efforts.

His family, however, issued a terse e-mailed comment on Thursday.

We do not agree with the political motivations and publicity tactics of Cindy Sheehan. She now appears to be promoting her own personal agenda and notoriety at the expense of her sons good name and reputation, read the e-mail signed by Caseys aunt Cherie Quartarolo on behalf of his paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

The Sheehan family lost our beloved Casey in the Iraq War and we have been silently, respectfully grieving, the e-mail stated. The rest of the Sheehan family supports the troops, our country and our president, silently, with prayer and respect.

Coulter Captures Arabia

Anne Coulter's tattered battleship, derided by her critics as the "Pig of War," headed back to America today, after her three week mission during which she Christianized the terrorists, restored order to Iraq, and conquered Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and France.

Ever adept at psychological warfare, Coulter is said to have horrified the enemy with her battleship, in the form of a pig, much like the American Indians were horrified by the appearance of the first white settlers from Europe.

9-11 Commission: Atta and the Gorelick Wall

Michelle Malkin covers the blogosphere on the Able Danger Scandal.

From Congressman Weldon's website:

WELDON RESPONDS TO OMISSION OF ABLE DANGER FROM 9/11 REPORT

WASHINGTON, D.C., Aug 12 - Today Congressman Curt Weldon (R-PA), Vice Chairman of the House Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees, released the following response to a statement by the former 9/11 Commission regarding the ABLE DANGER operation.

“ABLE DANGER was about linkages and associations of individuals identified with direct links to Al-Qaeda and not about dates and times.

To clarify, ABLE DANGER was a Department of Defense planning effort, tasked to Special Operations Command (SOCOM) by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). The task assigned to ABLE DANGER was to identify and target Al-Qaeda on a global basis and, through the use of cutting edge technology (data-mining, massive parallel processing, neural networking and human factors analysis) and enhanced visualization and display tools, present options for leaders (national command authority) to manipulate, degrade or destroy the global Al-Qaeda infrastructure.

The 9/11 Commission has released multiple statements over the past week, each of which has significantly changed - from initially denying ever being briefed to acknowledging being briefed on both operation ABLE DANGER and Mohammed Atta. The information was omitted primarily because they found it to be suspect despite having been briefed on it two times by two different military officers on active duty. Additionally, the 9/11 Commission also received documents from the Department of Defense on ABLE DANGER.

Despite their varied statements, two critical questions remain unanswered.

1) Why did the Department of Defense fail to pass critical information obtained through ABLE DANGER to the FBI between the summer and fall of 2000?

2) Why did the 9/11 Commission staff fail to properly follow-up on the three separate occasions when they received information on ABLE DANGER and Mohammed Atta?

I will continue to push for a full accounting of the historical record so that we may preclude these types of failures from happening again.”

Liberty Used Against Us

Why tolerate the hate?
By Irshad Manji in The New York Times

As Westerners bow down before multiculturalism, we anesthetize ourselves into believing that anything goes. We see our readiness to accommodate as a strength - even a form of cultural superiority (though few will admit that). Radical Muslims, on the other hand, see our inclusive instincts as a form of corruption that makes us soft and rudderless. They believe the weak deserve to be vanquished.

Paradoxically, then, the more we accommodate to placate, the more their contempt for our "weakness" grows. And the ultimate paradox may be that in order to defend our diversity, we'll need to be less tolerant. Or, at the very least, more vigilant. And this vigilance demands more than new antiterror laws. It requires asking: What guiding values can most of us live with? Given the panoply of ideologies and faiths out there, what filter will distill almost everybody's right to free expression?
...snip...

Which brings me to my vote for a value that could guide Western societies: individuality. When we celebrate individuality, we let people choose who they are, be they members of a religion, free spirits, or something else entirely. ...

Of course, there may be better values than individuality for Muslims and non-Muslims to embrace. Let's have that debate - without fear of being deemed self-haters or racists by those who twist multiculturalism into an orthodoxy. We know the dangers of taking Islam literally. By now we should understand the peril of taking tolerance literally.

Air America: Robbin' da Hood for the Higher Good

From Michelle Malkin , August 6, 2005:

This morning's New York Post is reporting that New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer has launched an investigation into the shady $875,000 loan from Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club to Air America.

Mark Steyn says:

"[S]pare a thought for the underprivileged urchins of the Bronx. The Gloria Wise Boys & Girls Club, a nonprofit social-services organization in New York, receives millions of dollars in government funds to give disadvantaged youth in poor neighborhoods a leg up the ladder of life. But mysteriously much of the money wound up being diverted to the coffers of Air America, the liberal talk-radio network whose ratings are yet another example of "deferred success." The needs of disadvantaged Al Franken and his pals apparently outweigh those of Bronx welfare recipients. Perhaps Janeane Garofalo is the coatless girl John Edwards was talking about all those months. Air America looks like the broadcast version of the U.N. Oil-for-Food program, whereby money earmarked to save starving moppets somehow winds up in the bank accounts of bloated self-described do-gooders with political connections." -- Mark Steyn, Chicago Sun-Times, www.suntimes.com/output/steyn/cst-edt-steyn07.html Posted by Picasa

From Captain's Quarters, August 2, 2005:

Americans Coming Together Falls Apart

John Fund notes in OpinionJournal's Political Diary (e-mail subscription only) that the grassroots organization Americans Coming Together has quietly closed its doors. I have not yet seen any press release announcing this; in fact, the ACT website says nothing at all about a cessation. However, ACT last updated its blog almost a month ago. Given all the political tussles this summer, it sounds as if no one's home at ACT. Posted by Picasa
